The process
Our company is fully accredited by the UK pest industry with memberships in the British Pest Control Association (BPCA), the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA), CHAS safe contractor scheme and the European Confederation of Pest Management Associations (CEPA). The bed bug treatments we provide are tailored individually but always following the pest legislation in the UK, achieving high success rates of bed bug extermination and post-treatment control. Our commitment is to cope with less treatments and insecticides applied, respectively less money spent until the complete eradication of the bed bugs.
The process starts with few preparations that we require to be done by the customer prior to the appointment. Those include decluttering under the beds and the floor level, make sure all belongings on the floor are bagged up in plastic bags, sealed ideally, or plastic boxes with lids on top. Some items could be left for the technician to inspect, in case of suspected signs of bed bugs. Hot wash of the bed sheets, pillow cases and covers on 60 degrees Celsius is the next step. Bed bugs cannot go through the fabric of pillows or duvets, so they cannot be found inside, unless the fabric is torn or broken in some way. The final step is a thorough vacuuming of the whole floor in the property and all furniture where the bed bugs could be hiding. The vacuum contents have to be sealed and disposed of safely afterwards.
As soon as the property has been prepared, we can go ahead and confirm the appointment. Our knowledgeable bed bug technicians inspect all possible hideouts of the insect, to be able to locate the source, as well as risk assess all general and site risks. We are always to perform the treatment on the same visit, as long as the customer is happy with all the findings of the technician, the individual advice and recommendations. The most requested and efficient treatment is our targeted dry steam application, followed by residual spray with professional-use-only insecticide with highly effective active ingredients. Those treatments take less time to complete, although we treat the whole property, as per the best practice. We do not charge anything to treat all the common areas in the property – hallways, stairs and landings, kitchen and bathroom, sitting and living areas.
Commercial properties and vehicles are being charged and slightly lower rates, long term contract are available as well with guaranteed heavy discounts and free treatments. Once the process is completed, it takes not more than 3-4 hours before it is safe to go back, 4-5 hours for most pets. Depending on the size of the treated premises and the level of bed bug infestation, the combined dry steam and spray treatment takes between 1 and 2 hours, which is 3-4 times less downtime compared to heat with hot air at the same efficiency.
