The process

Each case of bed bug infestation we thoroughly inspect for hideouts, nests or signs of the pest, then risk assess and investigate the probable cause for the introduction of the bed bugs. We issue advice based on all the findings and the assessments and recommendations, if anything could be done to improve the situation in the property, also advice on prevention in future. Before we book an appointment for an inspection and potential treatment, we always ask the customer to do a few preparations, prior the visit. All instructions and best practices that we follow increase our overall chances for complete bed bug removal with less treatments, which is part of our commitment and business policy.

Please note that our bed bug treatments work perfectly well with a wide range of insects, such as carpet beetle and its larvae, cockroaches, fleas, flies and other flying insects, fabric and food moth, spiders, woodworms and furniture beetles, stored product insects (SPIs) and others.

Bed bugs are evolved species of pest and one of the best hiding insects in general. However, they follow certain patterns and we know their behaviour really well. They tend to hide as close as possible to the sleeping or sitting area, so the first step of the preparations is to inspect any storage on the floor level in the bedrooms and sitting areas and then seal the storage in plastic bags or boxes, or store it away from those areas. Once the personal items are in sealed bags or boxes, bed bugs cannot access them, they also cannot go through fabrics and do not tend to hide in clothes. Hanging clothes, upper and top shelves, top drawers should be safe, unless the infestation has been mistreated with commercial bed bug sprays or smoke bombs.

The beds in the property have to be stripped and the bedding washed at 60 degrees Celsius, just the sheets and the covers, as bed bugs cannot go through fabrics. Tumble-drying or dry cleaning could be applied to delicate clothes that may be affected by the bed bugs, which is not very likely. The bugs prefer wooden cracks and crevices, cardboard and paper stuff. Once the storage situation is sorted, the property has to be vacuum cleaned very thoroughly, including all the soft and wooden furniture, mattress and bed frame. The vacuum contents have to be sealed before binning them, just in case a bed bug is trapped and tries to crawl out.

As soon as our technician is at the property, he inspects and assesses the situation and shows all findings of the inspection to the customer. This usually takes 15-20 minutes and then we ask the customer to go out for an average downtime before safety of 3 to 4 hours total. The bed bug treatment process is between hour, hour and a half for most properties and it includes the whole property with all the common areas treated for free. We treat all the furniture in all rooms without any charge for hallways and staircases, sitting/living area, kitchen and bathroom. With bed bugs it is important to treat the whole property thoroughly, so that we get the maximum result and prevent the risk of spreading the bed bugs around the property.
